Centrum

The original medieval heart of the city is bounded to the north by the Ij river, to the west and south by the Singel canal and to the east by the Kloveniersburgwal and Geldersekade canals (see main map). Centred on the main streets of Damrak and Rokin it includes Centraal Station, the Red Light District, Dam square and the Spui.

Although this busy little zone consists of just one postal district, it can be split down the middle into two distinct areas. To the east, the "Old Side" includes the Red Light District whilst the western "New Side" has fashion shops and the Spui area.
