Bom Shankar Chai Shop

This place has been going for decades, originally as the Milk Bar. I first went there in the 1980s and have returned a couple of times more recently.
The Chai Shop is a chess player's coffeeshop. There are chessboards and clocks available.
This is one of the most welcoming shops I know. The staff are always friendly and cheerful and they serve big cups of coffee. The music is laid back and sometimes includes some good reggae. There are some nice murals to look at
The only downsides are some rather hard seats and, it has to be said, higher prices than nearby shops like Media and Katsu.
To find this shop and others in the area, check out the Map of Albert
Cuyp Market area.

Nice, relaxing shop in a quiet neighborhood. Far Eastern decor and music. The woman behind the counter was very sweet and talkative. Bought a gram of Kali Mist, I forget the price but the smoke was great.
